The Theong Home originally began as the Chiangkhong Home in 2001. It's vision began when one of the original boys from the Chiangrai Home, Mattai and his wife, came to Mercy Ministries burdened for his own people and wanting to start a home for them. His tribe, the Hmong tribe, heavily populates the Chiangkhong area, so they decided to rent a house there and a home was begun with 10 little Hmong children.
After 2 years of living in Chiangkhong and growing to 20 Hmong children, it was decided they needed a bigger home. After a lot of prayer, land was purchased in Theong, a 40 minute drive from Chiangkhong. Construction began in January 2003 and 2 of the 3 buildings were completed and ready for the opening of the Thai school year in April. The third building was in development and construction icompleted after the rainy season in October of 2003. |
